Chanel Dasilva

Chanel, a native in Brooklyn, is a multifaceted artist and ARTivist. She is an entrepreneur, choreographer, and director, co-founding MOVE|NYC|, an arts and social justice organization focused on equity and diversity in the dance industry. Chanel earned her BFA from The Juilliard School, after being named a Presidential Scholar in the Arts. She danced with the Trey McIntyre Project, performing in works like Ma Maison and The Sun Road, and was featured on the cover of Dance Magazine in 2011. She also performed with the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company and toured internationally across various continents.


Chanel began choreographing in 2016, creating works for institutions like LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts and Harvard Dance Project. In 2018, she choreographed for Gibney Company's EMERGE season. She has since received commissions from The Joffrey Ballet, American Repertory Theater, and Ballet Memphis, among others. Chanel is a notable répétiteur of Trey McIntyre's works and has also choreographed for artists like Esperanza Spalding and Nathalie Joachim.


As an educator and mentor, Chanel has led workshops at institutions such as The Juilliard School, SUNY Purchase, and New York University. She has been recognized with awards from the Joffrey Ballet Winning Works Choreographic Competition, the Martha Hill Dance Fund, and the Princess Grace Foundation.
