Chanel DaSilva

Chanel Dasilva, a Brooklyn native, is a versatile artist who channels the transformative power of the arts through her work as an entrepreneur, choreographer, director, and ARTivist. She co-founded MOVE|NYC|, an arts and social justice organization focused on increasing equity and diversity in the dance profession. Chanel is known for her provocative choreographic works that delve into the complexities of the human experience.


After earning her BFA from The Juilliard School as a Presidential Scholar in the Arts, Chanel joined the Trey McIntyre Project, where she performed lead roles in notable works like Ma Maison and The Sun Road. She later became a member of the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company, performing iconic pieces such as Coltrane's Favorites and The Black Rose. Throughout her career, Chanel has danced and toured internationally, fulfilling her lifelong dream.


As a choreographer, Chanel has created works for prestigious institutions including The Joffrey Ballet, American Repertory Theater, The Juilliard School, Parsons Dance, and Ballet Memphis. She has also directed music productions for artists like Esperanza Spalding and Nathalie Joachim and has re-staged Trey McIntyre's ballets nationwide.


A sought-after educator and consultant, Chanel has led workshops and seminars across the country, focusing on dance training, professional development for dancers, and DEI strategies for arts leaders. Her achievements have been recognized with awards from the Joffrey Ballet Winning Works Competition, the Martha Hill Dance Fund, and the Princess Grace Foundation. Chanel attributes her success to the mentors and institutions that supported her early on, including the Bernice Johnson Cultural Arts Center, Creative Outlet Dance Theater of Brooklyn, The Ailey School, and The Juilliard School.
