Shalon Powell

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Shalon is a Hip-Hop vocalist, songwriter, poet, producer, and teaching artist dedicated to using his craft for both artistic expression and community empowerment. His musical journey began in high school, where he honed his skills in lunch table cyphers before making his solo debut at SOB’s in 2019. Later that year, he joined Creative Outlet, where he has since performed at events such as Juneteenth celebrations and Triumph of the Human Spirit Day. Beyond his work as a performer, Shalon works behind the scenes as an Administrative Assistant, helping to coordinate programming, manage communications, and ensure the smooth operation of Creative Outlet’s initiatives. His deep connection to the arts informs his ability to support outreach efforts and youth engagement, bridging the gap between creative vision and logistical execution.
